About the Tyson/Mary Lou Retton Partnership
In January 2008, Tyson Foods, Inc., a Proud Sponsor of the 2008/2010 U.S. Olympic Team, announced a partnership with Olympic gymnastics champion, Mary Lou Retton, in a search for the American mom worthy of the title, Gold Medal Mom™. Together, Tyson and Retton have invited Americans to respond to the question, “What makes the mom you’re nominating America’s Gold Medal Mom™?”
“Despite its challenges, there is no more important job on Earth than being a mom,” says Retton. “I am thrilled to join Tyson in identifying and honoring a gold medal-worthy mom.”
Retton, a high-energy mother of four, will serve as a spokesperson and an official judge for the contest. As a Tyson spokesperson and an inspirational speaker, she uses her experience in elite-level sports and life to provide guidance and support to moms, families and athletes everywhere.
